Tonight we dive into a late ‘80s cult gem: Society. Underrated and underperforming in the US when it was released, it has gained cult status for its commentary on social classism wrapped up in a deliciously dark, and often comical, body horror film. The climax of this film has a name: The Shunting, and it is a practical effects masterpiece of bodily absurdity and discomfort. If you can get through the Beverly Hills teen drama that is the first hour of this film, you are in for one insane finale. Just remember to have some fun!
