Dennis is a veteran/Reservist and founder of a local startup, Pixelar LLC. “I started this in 2019 as a way to explore entrepreneurship first hand while foraying into the world of commercial drone services. It has a side project focused on learning and discovery. Where my exploration has been focused is on how information and insights from drone imagery, but also from other sources like commercial satellites, is beginning to bring new value to industries”.
"The problem Pixelar is attempting to address is the complexity of answering a question about a location from imagery data. The end users of imagery data are typically quite removed from the source in a processing context. From collection to processing to adaptation and delivery, end users shouldn't have to be experts in any of the up-stream work that is involved in generating those insights; They should just ask a question. Pixelar is aiming to build a team and a service to help answer those questions and deliver insights in unique ways that simplify the end-user experience.
This problem is shared across industries; from Archiecture-Engineering-Construction, to land development & real estate, to infrastructure, to precision agriculture. Smart Farming and PrecisionAg are an early focus, and perhaps the beachhead market due to the energy around these innovations in Virginia.”
