Nation Beat is a NYC based band that combines Brazilian maracatu drumming and New Orleans second line rhythms. Their founder (and old friend of Bruce) Scott Kettner calls in to talk about his musical journey that began with him playing rock and punk in Florida, before sending him to NYC to study jazz and ultimately allowing him to find his musical future in Brazil. It's a great story and when you hear the songs he shares on the show, you will become a Nation Beat fan. Hell, Willie Nelson liked them enough to invite them to play Farm Aid, and you know that Willie knows good music!
FirstAndMonday.com has a message board forum and on that forum resides a poster known as FriendlyDood. Perhaps his handle should be InterestingDood, instead! He calls in to answer several questions posted for him by other members of our community and covers everything from his time as a screenwriter, covering Michigan football, living in Trinidad and Tobago, going to EDM festivals and the one time he accidentally gave a girl poison ivy, below the belt.
