In a beautiful moment of God's grace and the people's devotion, God brings the Israelites to Mount Sinai and claims the people as a "kingdom of priests and a holy nation." In return, they promise to keep the covenant and follow in God's way. It won't take long before the people go back on their promise. God, on the other hand, never goes back on his promises.
