Message Title:  God’s Will

“What is God’s will for my life?”

1.     We don’t trust God.

I ask—ask the God of our Master, Jesus Christ, the God of glory—to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing him personally… Ephesians 1:17-18 (MSG)

…your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is he is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life he has for his followers, oh, the utter extravagance of his work in us who trust him… Ephesians 1:17-18 (MSG)

We can only experience God’s will for our lives… when HE is LORD of our lives.

2.     We are aiming at the wrong thing.

I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.’ Isaiah 46:10 (NIV)

God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin.  1 Thessalonians 4:3 (NLT)

Never stop praying.  Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 (NLT)

The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law. Deuteronomy 29:29 (NIV)

3.     We are paralyzed by fear.

…may He equip you with all you need for doing His will.  May He produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to Him.  Hebrews 13:21 (NLT)

1.  Do what you KNOW to do.

His REVEALED will is the path to His CONCEALED will.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Romans 12:1-2 (NIV)
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is —his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:1-2 (NIV)

When you are walking in His WAYS… you are living in His WILL.

So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise.  Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Ephesians 5:15-18 (NLT)
Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.  Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit… Ephesians 5:15-18 (NLT)

“God’s will is more present than future, but often remains invisible until it’s in the past.” – Levi Lusko

2.  Do what you WANT to do.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)

The will of God is what you will miss out on… when you are sitting around obsessing about it.

And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father. Colossians 3:17 (NLT)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.  Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this… Psalm 37:4-5 (NIV)

“Love God and do whatever you will.” – Augustine

3.   Trust that HE will DO what HE NEEDS to do, to accomplish what HE WANTS to do.

And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. Romans 8:27-28 (NLT)

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. Romans 8:27-28 (NLT)
