I'll be Home for Christmas

(Luke 2:4)  “So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.”

(Luke 2:8)  “And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.”

(Matthew 2:1)  “After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem.”

(John 6:51) “I am the living bread that came down from heaven…which I will give for the life of the world.”

What Does “Home” Mean?

A.  It’s about a place.

B.   It’s about people.

C.   It’s about protection.

(John 14:2-3)  “In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”

1. Your location will change.

(John 14:23)  Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.”

(Philippians 3:20)  “But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.”

(Hebrews 11:13)  (People of faith are) “…aliens and strangers on earth.  They were longing for a better country--a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.”

2. Your relationship will change.

(Romans 8:15)  “For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’”

(John 15:15)  “I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends.”

(Matthew 7:22-23)  “Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’  Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you.’”

3. Your security will change.

(Hebrews 13:5)  “God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’”

(Revelation 3:20)  “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.”

What will happen when I open the door?
