Description

Margin:  The amount available beyond what is necessary.

(Ephesians 5:15-17) Be very careful, then, how you live — not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is.

How to make margin?

1.    Start asking: “Is this wise?”

2.    Start saying: “No” to the good things and “Yes” to the best things.

(Romans 12:2) Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will.

3.    Start scheduling: Times of rest.

(Matthew 11:28-29) (MSG) “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

4.    Start spending: Time with God.

(Matthew 6:33) But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
