Title of Message: Love One
What if this community was one as Jesus and God are one?
(John 17:11) (NIV) “I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name—the name you gave me—so that they may be one as we are one.”
(John 17:20) (NIV) "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message,”
(John 17:21) (NIV) “..that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.”
(John 17:23) “I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”
What would unify the church?
1. Recognize we have one enemy
(John 10:10) “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;”
(1 Peter 5:8-9) “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.”
2. Be one in Heart
(Acts 4:32) “All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had.”
(Acts 4:34) “There were no needy persons among them.”
(John 13:34-35) "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
3. Remember the One purpose
(Matthew 28:19) “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”
