How do we leave a Godly Legacy that honors God?

“The great use of life is to spend it for something that will outlast it.”—William James

(Galatians 6:7-10) “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people…”

“The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it.” –Henry David Thoreau

(1 Corinthians 3:12-14)  “If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his work will be shown for what it is, but the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man’s work. If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward.”

How do we leave a Godly Legacy that honors God?

1.    Our Convictions

(Isaiah 40:8) “but the word of our God stands forever”

(Matthew 7:26 MSG) “But if you just use my words in Bible studies and don’t work them into your life, you are like a stupid carpenter who built his house on the sandy beach.”

2.    Our Character

(Romans 8:29, MSG) “God knew what he was doing from the very beginning. He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son”

3.    Our Community

“When you were born, you were crying, and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so that when you die, you will be smiling and everyone around you will be crying.”—Anonymous

4.    Our Calling

“My children will not remember the words of wisdom I’ve passed along over the years, nor will yours remember the good advice you’ve given. However, etched in their minds and planted in their hearts is a permanent picture of who you are and how you’ve lived before them.” –Dorothy Kelley Patterson

(Ecclesiastes 7:4) (NLT) “A wise person thinks much about death, while the fool thinks only about having a good time now.”

(Revelation 21:4) “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

(1John 5:11-12) (NLT) “And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. So whoever has God’s Son has life; whoever does not have his Son does not have life.”
