The title of my message today is: A High Price
“Ransom: to redeem from captivity, bondage, detention, etc., by paying a demanded price.”
1. Bad Doctrine
2. Bad Representation
3. Bad Memory
Our theme verse for this series:
(Matthew 20:28) “…the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
He always chooses to forgive.
The High Price:
1. Scourging: Healing
(Psalm 103:2-3) “Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.”
2. Crown of Thorns: Peace
(John 14:27) “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
(John 16:33) “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
3. The Nails: Clear Conscience
(Hebrews 9:9) “This is an illustration for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being offered were not able to clear the conscience of the worshiper.”
(Hebrews 10:22) “Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.”
4. The Spear : Broken Heart
(Psalm 34:18) “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
5. Death: New Life
(Romans 6:4) (NLT) “For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.”
(Romans 8:11) “And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.”
(Romans 8:31) “What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?”
