Rediscover, Part 3: Our Journey
“Then Pharaoh gave this order to all his people: "Every boy that is born you must throw into the Nile, but let every girl live." (Exodus 1:22 NIV)
What can we expect on our journey?
1. Expect to be uncomfortable.
“Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the desert and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.” (Exodus 3:1 NIV)
“So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt." (Exodus 3:10 NIV)
“Most of us want God to speak or give us an assignment. However, were not interested in making any major adjustments in our lives. Biblically, that is impossible. Every time God spoke to people in the scriptures about something He wanted to do through them, major adjustments were necessary. They had to adjust their lives to God. Once the adjustments were made God accomplished His purpose through those He called. You cannot continue life as usual and go with God at the same time”. –Henry Blackaby-Experiencing God
2. Expect to have other travelers with you.
“Moses said to the LORD, "O Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue." (Exodus 4:11 NIV)
“The LORD said to him, "Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the LORD ? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say." (Exodus 4:12 NIV)
You are not meant to travel alone through this journey.
3. Expect significant obstacles.
“Ever since I went to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has brought trouble upon this people, and you have not rescued your people at all." (Exodus 5:23 NIV)
4. Expect power from prayer.
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.” (Proverbs 14:12 NIV)
5. Expect God to provide.
6. Expect God to be glorified.
“He and Aaron gathered the assembly together in front of the rock and Moses said to them, "Listen, you rebels, must we bring you water out of this rock?" Then Moses raised his arm and struck the rock twice with his staff. Water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank. But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them." (Numbers 20:10-12 NIV)
7. Expect Life!
“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10 NIV)
“You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life.” (John 5:39-40 NIV)
