This week lead pastor Shane Frazier discusses transformed service.
Title of Message: Transformed Service
An Attender is a Consumer.
A Member is a Contributor.
(Romans 12:2) Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Why be a contributor:
1. They have it all covered.
2. You did it before and hated it.
3. You are not qualified.
Biblical Serving says:
1. I am a minister
(1 Peter 2:9) But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
2. I am important
We are not going to be rewarded on what we do, but how faithful we were to obey what God asked us to do.
(1 Corinthians 12:27) (NKJV) Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.
(Ephesians 4:11-12) Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.
3. I am one of a kind
(1 Corinthians 12:4-7) (MSG) God's various gifts are handed out everywhere; but they all originate in God's Spirit. God's various ministries are carried out everywhere; but they all originate in God's Spirit. God's various expressions of power are in action everywhere; but God himself is behind it all. Each person is given something to do that shows who God is: Everyone gets in on it, everyone benefits. All kinds of things are handed out by the Spirit, and to all kinds of people! The variety is wonderful:
(Psalm 139:13-14) For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
