As we work through some prescriptive vs descriptive passages of the Bible, especially in regard to women, we start with Tamar, and how she falls in line to Jesus' geneology.
This is a strange story involving Judah being an unintentional kinsman redeemer, not by choice, but by thinking he's picking up a prostitute. Tamar was not cared for by the men who were entrusted with her care, and she fought for survival. In that, the Bible said she did what was right.
