WICKED is a story of friendship. In the Land of Oz, Elphaba Throp (Cynthia Erivo) lives in Munchkinland with her father, Governor Throp (Andy Nyman), and her paraplegic sister, Nessarose (Marissa Bode). Elphaba's mother died giving birth to Nessarose. Elphaba has green skin, which is why her father hates her. She also finds it hard to fit into society. She discovers that she has some magical powers. Nessarose enrolls in the prestigious Shiz University. Elphaba wants to take her sister to college, where she meets Glinda Upland (Ariana Grande), a popular young woman who wants to impress Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh), the Dean of Magic at Shiz. However, Madame Morrible has her eye on Elphaba, especially when she accidentally uses magic. The Dean begs Elphaba to admit her to Shiz, and as luck would have it, Glinda becomes Elphaba's roommate. The two are as different as night and day. Meanwhile, strange events are occurring at the university and in Oz. The animals who could speak are forced into silence and professors are forced to give up their jobs. Elphaba decides to help. What happens next sets the tone for the rest of the film.
