On International Day of the midwifes, we are focusing on Perinatal Mental Health Support. Perinatal Mental illness affects up to 27% of new and expectant mothers and cuts across a wide range of conditions. If left untreated, mental health issues can have significant and long lasting effects the woman the child and the entire family. There is a lot of support available for women struggling. Please contact your health practitioners if you or any one you know is struggling with their mental health during pregnancy or after birth. Prevention and early diagnosis, and support is key.
