Tune in to hear the sermon by brother Tommy Waltz on Acts 17. (Held at Christ Our Hope Church in Lyndhurst, NJ).
[Sermon Notes]
Our Four Main Questions:
1. What does Acts reveal through repeated terms?
- Universal Truth: Acts 3:15 & Acts 17:24-34
- Resurrection: Acts 17:32: "Now when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked.
But others said, "We will hear you again about this." - Persecution: Acts 5:40: "and when they had called in the apostles, they beat them and charged
them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go." - Prayer: Acts 4:29 "And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to
continue to speak your word with all boldness," Not protection but to give boldness.
2. What we should expect?
- If they hate Jesus they are going to hate you.
- Religious people may be mad or even jealous of you
- People will lie about you and try to turn people against you if you are bold for Jesus
3. What we should share?
- Acts 17:24-25: He does not dwell in temples nor is He worshipped with mans hands like He needs
anything. - God needs nothing from you.
- He resurrected out of the
grave. - Acts 17: 26: Man – God gave you life in a certain time in history and place you where you are on
planet earth
o V27 Seek after him He is not far away
o V28 Relate to what they know
o V 29 Divine nature is not like metal, gold, or silver of man's devising - Law breaker Exodus 20
- Acts 4:29: "And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness," The whole book of Acts is about proclaiming this. Death, burial, and resurrection. Not just repentance and but also faith Acts 19:4-5 "And Paul said, "John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, Jesus." On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus." John baptism believe on the one to come. – repentance. Jesus baptism- faith
- Regenerational response- Vs. 30,31 accountability of repentance because of coming judgment,
- Repentance and faith. Confidence in this because of His resurrection
4. How we should live?
- We should be bold followers of Jesus who are ready for whatever God allows to happen to us.
- Questions

o How did you come to that conclusion?
o What type of religious background do you have?
o What happens after you die ?
