We continued our series BOld Testament by looking at the story of Isaac's (almost) sacrifice at the hands of his father Abraham. We explored Abraham/Abram's call last week, looking at Genesis 12. Here in Genesis 22, it looks like that calling and promise have vanished. One the surface, this is a very difficult story. How could God do this to Abraham? To Isaac? Where is God's love in this.
Short answer: it points us to the cross.
Bottom line: God can ask anything of us, because God has not withheld anything from us.
Note: We experienced some technical issues on this Sunday, and about 30 seconds were lost. If you'd like a written copy of the sermon, please email Pastor Drew or the church office and we'd be happy to provide one.
