In the final sermon of this series we explored our new Vision Statement: "To be a faithful community of servant leaders joining in God's renewal of Greensboro and the world."
We looked at the Lord's Prayer today, and the beautiful image of God's Kingdom being present "on earth as it is in heaven." We talked about the Reign of God as not something that exists only in the future, or on a different plane of existence, but something that was inaugurated by the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, something that is present (but not complete) even now. The Kingdom is our vocation, our calling, the ultimate purpose of our daily work. It is God's Kingdom, not ours, but we can join in God's redemption story and play a part here in Greensboro and beyond.
The Kingdom is not a future vacation, but a present vocation.
