Manchester’s techno pioneers, 808 State, were formed in 1988 when Martin Price, owner of the city’s seminal Eastern Bloc underground record store, teamed up with Graham Massey, formerly of Factory Records’ Biting Tongues. Other members included Gerald Simpson(later known as A Guy Called Gerald), Andrew Barker and Darren Partington(DJ Duo The Spinmasters). Numerous collaborations & re-mixes followed as well as some of the finest acid house & techno tunes ever created.
For this mix, i have taken 26 tracks, chronologically, from the bands first 5 albums, and associated singles, between 1988 & 1991.
