Continuing my journey into the Afrobeat sounds of now and then, this edition finds me again straddling the new sounds of the Afro underground and the classic sounds out of Africa.
Opening with Fela Kuti, both the inspiration for contemporary Afro influenced acts and driver of the original Afrobeat sounds, this track sets the tone for what is to follow.
What follows is a journey through the influence and impact Fela's sound has had on his contemporaries and on musicians and producers today.
