Returning to Africa for Volume 5 in my Africanisms series, this set sees me delving further into music both out of and inspired by Africa with a heavy bent towards Afrobeat and Ethio sounds. Most of the selections are contemporary and demonstrate the impact of both Fela Kuti's Afrobeat and Mulutu Astatke's Ethio-Jazz sounds. The fact that both genres are still having such a large impact on musicians and producers today speaks volumes of the quality of the music they produced.
