Description

White Supremacy is more than an ideology. It's a cult. A disease. A sickness that is so ingrained in the sense of self of those who drink of its poison that it will go to extremes — including suicide, murder, genocide — you name it, in order to keep itself in existence.

In this episode, Dr. Venus breaks down the logic of White Supremacy through the lens of "perceived violence" vs "proven violence." She discusses why whites always seem to steal from cultures and take everything except for the pain. Dr. Venus then gives tangible ways we can work to win the battle, such as voting in this upcoming election and encouraging others to vote. When we stop seeing White Supremacy as a personal attack and the ideologic disease it really is, we lessen their power.

Key Takeaways:

[6:03] You may think you are already registered to vote, but please double-check and confirm that you are and let those around you know how important it is to vote. Please don't take it for granted.

[10:11] An ideology is how people know who they are and self identify. White Supremacy is an ideology, while racism is a series of actions that keep the status quo in place. When the ideology is one where people view themselves as superior over everyone and everything that is not white, it becomes a disease and sickness.

[13:50] When you are dealing with people who truly believe that God has made them better, you have to contend with the lack of rational thought.

[15:15] When white became the path to prestige and purpose, culture and identity were surrendered. This is why white people can feel as though they have the right to take other cultures and energy without apology because they gave all of that up for the "power" of whiteness.

[23:38] It's a challenge to be present to the attacks and violence, and you have every right under the sun to be livid and feel your anger. However, you have to plan and strategize to be effective. Each time they escalate it shows that they are losing power and know it.

[27:48] It is crucial to stay in your power so you can move forward, and that means voting, even if you have to mail your vote. In this season, your vote DOES matter in a way it never has before.

[31:25] Racism can be undone, but ideology — good luck.
