Hot & Delicious USA-announcement & going solo!
Sitting here on my lunch break contemplating the last time that I made a career decision of this enormity… actually there isn’t one… or a choice really… This is BIG!
In March 2016, I’m jetting off to America for a pre-planned trip to SXSW and the latest news update is that I am in fact going to stay on in the USA for at least 2-3 months (hopefully longer).
Yes, I am finishing up my full-time role as SapientNitro Australia’s Social Media Lead, working across Cadbury Dairy Milk, Oreo, Peroni Italian Beer, Bulmers Original Cider, Philly Cream Cheese, Kraft Nuts Spreads and more, to pursue a number of exciting new business opportunities that I’ve been approached about for Hot & Delicious: Rocks The Planet.
In September, I was asked to speak at Social Media Week - Miami and afterwards, whilst on a much-need 3 week “holiday”, I ran social media for LA Podcast Festival followed by a short break in San Francisco and New York.
As a result of this trip to America, 2-3 new opportunities have come to light and while I’ll still be contracting through Hot & Delicious to Australian clients to bring in the Benjamins (until such time as I can sort USA work visas or I run out of money 😃 😉), I’ll be living in Los Angeles interviewing international guests for the Hot & Delicious: Rocks The Planet podcast, working with new partners on influencer content, blogging, photography and more!
While I know that I’m being a little vague about these opportunities (one of them is MASSIVE), the long and short of it is as a result of every single leap of faith that I’ve made along the way in my career - from dropping out of my biochemistry degree, flying to Dubai to live in the Middle East and travel the world for 6.5 years as an Emirates Airline international flight attendant, approaching Ballistyx Snowboard Show on Channel GO! about being their music supervisor despite zero experience and nailing it!, putting a 900q meter ice-rink on the sands of Bondi Beach, the first of its kind ever in the world… each one ended up being a career-changing and defining moment of my life.
And the one thing that every single one of these decisions have in common? I followed my gut instinct.. I have to do this...
There are no guarantees and the fact that I’m nervous is a good thing. It’ll push me even harder along my path and whether I return to Australia a few months later or not, I know my life will have changed forever… for the better.

Amazing... I’ve got tingles!
