An Interview with: Suzanne Ruff
Suzanne Ruff's family was afflicted with PKD ( Polycystic KidneyDisease). Suzanne was the only one not affected by it. Her mother and two sisters, as well as several aunts and uncles and cousins have all needed kidney transplants to save their lives. When the bell rang with the call for her to donate her kidney to her sister, she became "The Reluctant Donor" . This happens to be the name of her book which chronicles her thoughts, feelings, emotions during this life-altering chapter of her life. PKD is the most common genetic disease - 12.5 million people worldwide have PKD; over half a million Americans suffer from it. As of the latest count, over 90,000 are waiting for a kidney transplant. Listen and be inspired by Suzanne's story. Perhaps, in the not too distant future, this could alter your life and someone else's.
