Diggstown stars Vinessa Antoine airs on CBC Season 2 on Wednesday, March 4 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT) on CBC and the free CBC Gem streaming service.
When first announced in 2019, Diggstown made headlines in Canadian media for having Vinessa Antoine as the first Black woman to star in a prime-time TV network drama. The new season continues to make strides for representation in Canadian TV, while balancing provocative and poignant stories with light human touches.
Created by Floyd Kane, Season 1 of the series introduced viewers to the fierceness of Marcie Diggs (Antoine) and the emotionally and ethically devastating world of legal aid. In Season 2, Marcie and her fellow crusaders at legal aid continue their fight against a criminal justice system that shows no mercy to our most at risk citizens.The new season will continue to touch tackle real life issues that people face, including homelessness, unemployment and imprisonment.
