Badru is a game developer from Seattle, WA. He is one of the founding members of the Ice Water Games collective and developer of Tenderfoot Tactics (2020), Viridi (2016), Eidolon (2014), and others. Badru was called out by my past guest Ozzie Sneddon, developer of Existensis. Tenderfoot Tactics is a 3D, open world, turn-based tactics game set in a fantasy world. The game is gorgeous, has great music and creative game design, and you can get it on PC. I have also played Viridi on mobile, which is super cute and fun.
In this episode we will discuss the "tactics" genre, collaboration, creating a game developer collective, survival gameplay mechanics, the concept and implementation of maps in games, the benefits of developing other people’s ideas, 3D modeling and texture wrapping, the social aspects of a robust play testing operation, release day advice, and much more.
