On this week's Mental Note I am sharing with you an interview that I recently did with Adrien Paczosa on her show Fearless Practitioners. I wanted to share this conversation with you because in it, I share more about the inspiration behind this podcast and why I am passionate about being an advocate for black and brown females, especially in regards to their mental health.
I also talk about my non-profit Glass Seats and how I was inspired to create it based off of my experience in corporate America. Before becoming a therapist, I spent twenty years in another field, and through that experience I have become passionate about helping young women who may feel limited in the opportunities available to them.
Adrien also asked me about how I am able to balance so many things and still manage to oversee a successful mental health practice. We talk about the importance of self care, how I utilize something called the "power hour", and why I personally schedule in naps!
Another important piece to this conversation is when we talked about asking yourself the question "who am I" and being able to answer that honestly. In order to find the courage to do the things we feel called to do, it requires that we take a deep look inwards and come face to face with who we really see ourselves as.
This is a powerful conversation for those who are wanting to step out of their comfort zones, take more action, and lean into who they know they are on the inside.
