How would you describe the experience of the Christian life? For some, the Christian life can feel like a series of mountaintop events. They go to a conference or to a retreat, or they remember when they were converted, and they were filled with such great joy in those moments. God's presence was palpable. They had experiences where God's presence was undeniable. Those experiences are great…but they don't happen very often. On the other hand, does the Christian life feel like a long journey? Does it feel like a long road trip where you feel like you are passing the same trees or signs for miles and miles? Are you spiritually bored? What is the best way to view the Christian life?
In this episode of the Biblical Counseling Podcast, Pastor Jeff Christianson continues this study of the Holy Spirit. Today, he discusses the topic of "Be Always Filled." This topic comes from an incredible command Paul gave to the church at Ephesus in Ephesians 5:18. Ephesians 5:18 reads, "And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit." It is sometimes helpful to point to the original Greek to grasp the full significance of Paul's writings. At the end of verse 18, Paul writes "but be filled with the Spirit."
