In this day and age, it seems like everything (and everyone) is vying for your attention all the time. That's why I want to help you get laser focused, minimize distractions, and accomplish the most important tasks that you need to get done. You absolutely can focus, I promise! I want you to feel empowered to do this, and that's what these three strategies will help you do.
The first of these three strategies is to work in focused blocks of time. For example, between 7 AM and 8 AM, all I did today was work on this podcast: doing research, studying, working on show notes, and so on. At first, you might find you're getting distracted during your blocks of time. But by blocking out this time and making sure nothing else interrupts you, you develop your concentration muscle.
My second strategy is to do a onesie. This means just focusing on one thing at a time. Right now, grab a sheet of blank paper and write down one thing that you want to accomplish within the next 30 minutes. Clear your desk of all the clutter, put that one sheet of paper in front of you, and only focus on that for your next block of time.
Third, it's important to limit the number of tabs you have open on your computer. When you have too many tabs open, just turning your computer on can be overwhelming. Learn the power of bookmarking, which allows you to close a tab and come back to it later rather than having it staring you in the face.
