Having appeared on Gaydar Radio recently, with more to come, I wanted to create a series of free podcast resources on some specific issues relevant to the LGBT community.
If you have ever listened to Neil and Debbie's breakfast show on Gaydar Radio, you may know that they regularly have a coming out story feature in their show. This is a rite of passage that is particular to LGBT people, much more so in the western world where homosexuality has been decriminalised and the road equality is already far along.
For most LGBT people growing up, there are still strong pressures to conform to so called 'norms' of sexuality. 'Gay' is still an insult word in most schools and even in many work places. Most anyone who has ever 'come out of the closet' will have a story to tell you of how they were afraid of the reactions of the people they care most about and what may be further consequences in a society where being LGBT is still not considered fully normal and equal.
So, if you are considering coming out, or you know someone who you think might be, it is my intention that the information in this podcast will help you get clear in your mind that you can overcome your fears and live an honest and authentic life as the person you truly are.
If there are some specific issues you would like me to cover in these podcasts, I would love to hear your ideas. I would also love to hear your feedback if this information helps you or someone close to you.
Many thanks, Johnny.
