Charlie Smith is the author of seven novels and seven books of poetry including Red Roads, which was chosen for the National Poetry Series and received the Great Lakes New Poets Award. His many awards include the Aga Khan Prize, the Levinson prize, the J. Howard and Barbara M.J. Wood prize, a Guggenheim Fellowship and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. He lives in New York City and Key West.
