We’re getting closer to our next chapter, but still have some loose ends.
In this episode, Sandy and I (and at times, Youkilis) talk about preparing for our new journey, which amazingly, is only one week away. It’s hard to believe that it’s been roughly 18 months since I first ran the idea by Sandy that we should sell all of our belongs, buy an RV and travel the country. In some ways it seems like it was so long ago, yet in other ways it seems as though it was only yesterday.
Once we put the house on the market, it seemed like it took forever to sell, partly due to putting it on the market, taking it off due to the pandemic, and putting it back on again. When we signed the agreement of sale in June, it seemed like our original settlement date of August 31st was light years away. When our buyers asked if we’d be willing to move the settlement date up to August 14th, we thought, “No big deal, it’s only three weeks.” However, there have been many times over the course of the past few weeks that we’ve realized the value of three weeks.
The task of selling every piece of personal property to our names, almost literally, one piece at a time, has seemed like a daunting, borderline, impossible task at times. Sandy and I have each had our days of feeling overwhelmed and unprepared for the task, yet each step of the way, God has shown us that His grace and timing are perfect. The one thing about our relationship is that we can always pick each other up. If she’s having a bad day, I can help get her back on track, if I’m having a bad day, she seems to know exactly how to pick me up as well. If we’re both having bad days, which thankfully are rare, Youkilis is always more than happy to offer us a nudge of his nose or tail wag to bring a smile to our faces.
We’re both excited and yet, still sometimes a little scared about our new journey, but throughout all of this, we have shown faith and trust that the Lord is always working in the background on our behalf.
Here’s to new chapters!
