Mark 2:18-28
In this passage, where the Pharisees question Jesus about fasting, Jesus is revealing himself as God, not just as a miracle worker. He shows that he wasn’t going to toe the religious line.
Dave reminds us that we are not saved by acts such as fasting, giving, and keeping the Sabbath – we are saved so that we can do them. The spiritual disciplines are here to make us more like Jesus, not so that God will do things for us.
