Rohan is in grade seven and finds math very difficult. He feels sad, but his friend and brother help him realize all the other things he can do.
Here are some ways to engage students using this story:
1. Invite students to talk about times when numbers felt confusing to them. Let them share their thoughts, then help clear up any questions.
2. Encourage students to create two lists: things they can do and things they can’t do yet. Then have students work together to help a friend practice something from their “can’t do” list, supporting each other to learn new skills.
