PRESSING IN FOR BREAKTHROUGH
INTRODUCTION (2 KINGS 5v1-15)
‘Jesus in the House’ – Paralytic man’s friends breaking through the roof to get to Jesus
The need for us to break through to new places in God – and to break through in the different situations in our lives
Before I went on holiday I believe God spoke to me about having a week of Prayer & Fasting on my return for areas in my life where I want break through
Therefore, the Word this morning is for me – but you can listen to it as well - if you like!
Also, I will be starting my week of Prayer & Fasting next Sunday for seven days – you can join me – if you like?
I have no guarantee that this Word is from God – but even if there is only a 1% change that it is God, I want to take the risk??
The guarantee I do have is this – When God sees me seeking after him and trying to be obedient (even if I am wrong) – I know it will please and thrill God’s heart!!
My breakthroughs may be instant or gradual – but I believe God will honour my heart
I’ve been a Christian long enough to know that if I want things around me to change, then I need to change – and move up a gear!
PRESSING IN FOR BREAKTHROUGH
Namaan, was a great general of the army of the King of Syria and suffered from leprosy, for which there was no cure
On one of their raids into Israel the Syrians brought back a young Israelite girl who served Namaan’s wife
This young girl said to her mistress that if Namaan went to the prophet Elisha he would heal him of his leprosy
• When Namaan heard this word, hope must have sprang up in his heart
• Namaan then had to leave his own house (familiar surroundings) and go to Elisha’s house
• When Namaan arrived at Elisha’s house, Elisha sent a messenger to tell Namaan to “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and you will be healed” (When God speaks it is important to obey – no matter how simple or crazy it sounds! John A testimony)
• Namaan was looking for the spectacular and nearly missed the supernatural
• Namaan’s pride, and His preconceived idea of how God would heal him, nearly caused him to miss the blessing of God
• Namaan had some good and wise servants who spoke to him and encouraged him to obey
• So Namaan then humbled himself and obeyed the words of Elisha
• He dipped himself in the Jordan seven times – and he was healed (not 3 times or 5 times but 7 times – if he had only dipped himself 3 times he might only have got partial healing??)
MY APPLICATION – from next Sunday 12th – 19th July
I believe God has said to me (the word of Elisha) the following:
• To leave this house/KLC (the familiar) and go to another house/Duston Chapel – for seven days (a week of P & F)
• To have Morning, Midday, and Evening Prayers (Tongues?)
• To pray in the Chapel each evening for one hour from 8-9pm
• You can join me – if you like – for some, or all of this. For the evening prayer at the Chapel people can come and go during the hour
