Description

September is here which means its time for another episode of the Wildly Under-Qualified Yet Mildly Entertaining Podcast about sports in Wichita, Kansas and beyond - Keeper of the Games, hosted by Tommy Castor and Weston Mills.

On this new episode:

(03:13) It's been a crazy couple of weeks for USD 259, Wichita Public Schools. After the Board of Education cancelled the fall sports season because of COVID-19, students and parents protested and the BOE actually reversed their decision. After their impassioned discussion last week about the cancellation, Tommy and Weston break down the reversal and what is next for these students who now get to play their sports this fall in Wichita.

(18:03) We are only 1 week away for kickoff for the defending Super Bowl Champs, The Kansas City Chiefs when they take on the Houston Texans in Week 1 of the 2020 season. The guys discuss the Chiefs ring ceremony, Patrick Mahomes engagement to long time girlfriend Brittany Matthews, the rumored contract extensions for Andy Reid and Brett Veach, plus some injury concerns for week 1 for the Chiefs.

(34:11) Another rough week for the Kansas City Royals as they now stand at 14-22 through 36 of 60 games. The guys recap the moves the Royals made at the trade deadline, including dealing Trevor Rosenthal and not trading Whit Merrifield. They also discuss the bright spot of Brad Keller and the not so bright spots of Matt Harvey and Adalberto Mondesi.

(49:52) A quick college football update as KU and K-State prepare for their opening games on September 12. No fans allowed for KU, and 25% capacity for K-State. The Wildcats get an afternoon game, but KU kicks off on national TV vs. Coastal Carolina at 9 pm!

(53:45) Our #WichitaWhiparound counts down the top 5 Wichita area high school football teams for the 2020 season as ranked by Varsity Kansas.

(1:00:29) The #FinallyFunny is all about the Chiefs Super Bowl Ring ceremony and the blooper from Mecole Hardman, plus the comments from Andy Reid about getting free cheeseburgers when he wears his ring.
