Description

A teacher in Louisiana stood up at a local school board meeting to question why the school superintendent was being considered for a massive pay raise while teachers’ salaries stagnated. The teacher was violently arrested in response. On our show today we’ll turn to our education correspondent Kevin Kumashiro for a discussion on teacher pay. Then, as #Oprah2020 gains steam we’ll speak with Nicole Aschoff, a sociologist about why Oprah Winfrey running for President is actually a terrible idea. Finally, author Jeremy Lent will discuss his new book, The Patterning Instinct: A Cultural History of Humanity’s Search for Meaning. We’ll discuss how human beings need to return to a different relationship with our planet given our coming climate catastrophe and what history can teach us.
Hosted by Sonali Kolhatkar.
