UTIs are soooo annoying!!! If you haven’t had one (you go, girl) but were are almost certain that your sister, best friend, cousin, college roommate, mom has had one, is having one, or is about to have one. UGH… A UTI is an infection of your bladder and urethra. When this bacteria sneaks into the bladder or urethra, it can cause an infection. It’s more common in women because of our anatomy — our urethra is shorter than a dude’s, so the bacteria has a shorter distance to travel, and it’s closer to areas that might get a workout during sex. Even though UTIs are very common, it’s not something you should ignore (even if you can!) because it can spread upwards and cause a kidney infection, which can also be serious. So, what can you do to solve a problem like... burning pee??!!! Dr. Oakley and Holly will cover it all in this episode but depending on what’s causing your UTI(s), prevention is pretty straightforward. Be sure to: • Pee after sex • Stay hydrated • Pee whenever you have to, and make sure you ‘GO’ fully Maintain vaginal health with topical hormones and oral supplements as directed by your physician. Dr. Oakley loves and recommends Utiva to her patients and she takes it daily. Check it out: https://www.utivahealth.com/ - Her favorite is the Utiva Cranberry PACs: it’s a simple, small, once-a-day pill taken for daily support of the urinary tract to prevent ongoing UTIs. PACs are also the antioxidant of the cranberry and provide other gut health benefits. Love it!! Thank you for listening.
