Have you ever planned a vacation for months in advance? You have been anticipating this trip for months, and then, you finally arrive. Your feet hit the ground in this anticipated place, joined by people you love, and you begin to take in all the sights and beauty of it.
That’s the experience of David in Psalm 122. The experience of the pilgrim continues. He has been in a place that he should not be for too long (Psalm 120). He has anticipated the journey and the difficulties that await him, resting in God’s presence and protection to guide him along the way (Psalm 121). He thinks back on the call to go home to Jerusalem and worship with the nation. Now, in Psalm 122, he arrives. His feet are standing within the gates.
The experience that David describes has practical application for our lives and our corporate worship. I pray that you will join us this weekend as we continue to join the pilgrim on his journey home.
In Christ,
Pastor Chad
