Recognizing this can help you to step back and observe the behavior rather than identifying with it as an intrinsic part of yourself.
- When you notice yourself comparing yourself to others and feeling negative emotions, focus on relaxing your body and creating an open, relaxed state.
- Cultivate an attitude of openness and receptivity to the present moment and to yourself. When you're in this state, you're less likely to be caught up in comparisons and negative thoughts.
- Spirituality, or receptivity, can also help shift your perspective away from comparison. This could be something as simple as becoming more present or mindful. By focusing on receptivity, you can move into a different dimension where comparison is not possible.
