The youngster in this plot, who is perhaps 12 or 13 years old, is living the final summer before starting high school and is unsure of what to do with his life. He lacks direction because his pals appear more interested in attending parties and hanging out with ladies than they do in the "fun" activities of their youth, like blowing up a neighbor's mailbox and torturing an injured squirrel. The child is also irate for a variety of other reasons, including the fact that he finds it difficult to keep up with the way the world is changing around him.
