Having been a people pleaser, I used to be all things to all people. I wore my intelligence, confidence, and energy as a badge of honor. But ever since I woke up to the fact that I am free to choose how I spend my time and attention, freedom has been at the forefront of what I do and what I’m trying to impart to the world. Part of that freedom is the power to create and recreate ourselves—and, as an act of reinventing myself, I changed my name.
In this episode, I discuss how I changed my name from ‘Marc’ to Mark J. Silverman. I reveal the reason I rebranded the Mastering Midlife Podcast. I describe our capacity to recreate ourselves every day. I also outline the steps I take every morning to recreate myself and explain why we’re all frauds—and why it’s a good thing.
“You can be a different person this afternoon. You get to be a different person this morning. It’s all about deliberate effort—a deliberate choice. Going against your conditioning isn’t easy, but it’s possible.” - Mark J. Silverman
