Brock appears in the Kanto-based games as the Gym Leader of the Pewter Gym, which is the first Gym that the player challenges on their journey. He is one of the few truly serious professional Pokémon Trainers in the Pewter City area, and many people respect and admire him. He is quite proud of his rock-hard willpower, and uses Rock-type Pokémon to complement this. He rarely laughs or drops his serious demeanor, but when he does, he finds it hard to stop.
