In this episode, we differentiate the concepts "normal" and "normative," which are sometimes conflated by the shorthand "norm." By distinguishing descriptive uses of "norm" from evaluative uses, and by identifying different evaluative registers, we hope to reduce confusion later in the season as we continue to investigate subjectivity.
