Brendan Quirk has a long history of cycling and in the cycling industry, founding one of the first online bicycling retailers: Competitive Cyclist. Since selling it he's worked as the President of Rapha North America, CEO of the bike brand Allied, has worked with the Waltons on the planning and development of mountain bike trails in OZ (Northwest Arkansas) and just prior to being hired to replace Rob DeMartini as CEO of USA Cycling, served on the USAC Board of Directors. In December of 2021 he replaced DeMartini at the helm of competitive cycling's U.S. governing body and recently announced the creation of a National Mountain Bike Training Center in Bentonville, Arkansas.
In this hour, we discuss his history as a cyclist and road to becoming USAC's CEO as well as the creation of the National Mountain Bike Training Center, including it's staffing and program goals. We also discuss the health and future of other cycling disciplines including road racing, gravel racing and cyclocross.
