She also describes the precautions the government took to stop the spread of Covid-19, which included closing the borders in March of 2020, requiring foreign visitors to quarantine in hotels for two weeks, and requiring everyone to use an app called AliPay (which allows people to pay for things with their cellphones and to store their identification there) to show a green code, which means you're negative and you can travel and enter restaurants and stores. At the end of April of 2020 schools reopened in Shanghai, China. She describes the lockdowns in 2021 and 2022 in different cities to stop the spread of Covid-19.
