It was Cicero who once said, “It is a crime to put a Roman citizen in chains, it is an enormity to flog one, sheer murder to slay one: what, then, shall I say of crucifixion? It is impossible to find the word for such an abomination.” It was through this horrific means (the crucifixion of the Son of God) that God used to bring forgiveness for sins to the world. Like a beautiful diamond being turned and admired from its different angles, so it is with the beauty of the cross when looked upon and studied through the lens of Scripture.
