The Apostle Peter tells us in 1 Peter 1:19 that Jesus is the lamb without blemish or defect whose blood redeems us. It’s a direct reference to the unblemished Passover lamb mentioned in Exodus 12:5. The Israelites were not told to take any old lamb but one that was spotless, unblemished, as close to perfect as they could find. This of course pointed to the moral perfection of the Lamb to come; He was pure, innocent, blameless, holy and without sin. He’s the only one that qualifies to be the atoning sacrifice for the sin of the world. Jesus is our Passover lamb.
