Description

The Apostle James wrote his letter to the twelve tribes scattered abroad with the intent of bringing some serious correction. James was addressing those who were overlooking the poor in the congregation, those who were fighting and quarreling, and those who were claiming to have faith while their works were non existent. Several other admonitions are found throughout the letter including this important exhortation: James 1:19, “Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger.” Three important characteristics of a humble Christian are found in this verse: one who listens well, who is not hasty in words, and who restrains their anger by receiving the implanted Word of God. May the Lord help bring these three qualities about in the hearts and minds of His children.
