Every year 15,000 self help books are published in the United States. People are starving for purpose, for meaning, for direction, and for fulfillment in life. God’s word fulfills those deepest longings in all of us. The letters to the churches in the New Testament are packed with practical guidelines and helpful insights for our everyday lives. The help we need is all found right there. Colossians Ch.3 is a prime example of the support we so desperately desire. It outlines the ways in which we can please God and bear much fruit for Him. It’s not a 500 page self help book; but rather clear, simple, direct commands and exhortations for our good and His glory. Whether serving at work, at home, at church, or in the world the Apostle Paul’s reminder is that it’s the Lord Christ whom you serve. He sees it, will reward it, and is pleased by it. So whatever you do, do your work heartily unto Him!
